Spanish is a beautiful Romance language that was formed in Castilla, España as a result of the evolution of Latin with Germanic and Arabic influences. Spanish was spreading gradually at the same time that Spain was conquering new territories.
Spanish is the second or third, most spoken language in the world. It is the official language of countries such as Spain, México, and most Latin America countries. Modern Spanish has influence of the indigenous languages of the conquered countries. At an academic level, it is necessary to speak and learn a standard Spanish, without the influence of other idioms or dialects.
Academic Spanish is taught at different levels and specialties. For example, at the beginning level, students will learn basic writing, reading, and pronunciation; at intermediate level, students will learn vocabulary, grammar, and composition; at an advanced level, students who understand Spanish, will improve their writing, reading, and speaking skills.
Spanish at university level, will introduce students to Spanish Linguistics, Iberian Civilization, Ibero-American Civilization, Hispanic Civilization, Hispanic and Spanish Literature in their different phases, Spanish through Art, Latin American Cinema, National Identities in Spain, Spanish Morphology and Syntax, The Contemporary Spanish American Novel, and Spanish Theater. Spanish speaking countries Spanish is not only a language; it is a culture that involves many aspects from grammar, reading, writing, history, culture, arts, politics, linguistics, language studies, civilizations, and more. It is important to understand that in Spanish morphology and syntax vary across Spanish dialects. For example, in México bolsa means bag, in Venezuela, bolsa is a person who does not do anything or is lazy.
